Circumcision is a surgical removal of the foreskin, or the tissue covering the head (glans) of the human penis. This is commonly performed for some religious or cultural beliefs but also mostly for medical reasons such as to improved hygiene, cosmetic reasons and for the elimination of medical problems such as phimosis (where the foreskin is too tight) balanitis (inflammation of the glans penis) and chronic urinary tract infections.
In our Dubai Healthcare City Clinic, Doctors Maurizio and Roberto Viel perform circumcision under Intravenous sedation, which requires the presence of an anaesthetist. During the procedure you will be pain free and the whole procedure will only take an hour to finish.
After the circumcision procedure, you will need to remain at the clinic for about 2 hours to recover from sedation. A bandage is wrap around the tip of your penis, which will stay on for about 4 days. This bandage will serve to protect the wound and will reduce the swelling. You may experience slight discomfort but will not last more than 4-7 days. Couples activity can be resumed six weeks after the surgery.
